Not much to say in the way of introduction today. Everything went alright and I don't feel the need to share any of my stories.
Transportation-wise today went pretty much the same as yesterday. Today my friend (same friend) and I caught the #22 to SS. It was a pretty small bus and probably one of the oldest in the fleet. When we arrived at SS, my friend and I ran down to the J section and somehow managed to catch a late J4 bus (1801). About 15 minutes later (wow that was really fast) we were at Bethesda. My friend waited and caught the 32 to get home and I sat around for 7 or so more minutes to catch the #42 in the other direction. However, before I caught the bus I was recognized and confronted by an insane man with way too many keys. I was considering reporting him to the police, but I figured, I look about as insane as he does. I just sat in on the bench for the J9 until the #42 arrived.

Today's transportation object of the day is the J4 metro-bus (College Park - Bethesda)
This bus is one of the fastest in the fleet. It is only 15 or so minutes from Silver Spring to Bethesda and it makes only about 5 stops along the way. However, when you get to Bethesda, its a long wait before the #42 bus arrives. Good homework time.

Robotics -> Home #1
Hello everyone! For anyone reading this, you are looking right at (or through) the Waaron's new transportation related blog! Congratulations!
What this blog will be for all those Burger obsessed transportation freaks out there (yes you, both of you) is a daily update on the public transportation the Waaron took daily and a few tidbits and stories from the Montgomery County Transit System. Expect me to spit out one or two every once in a while (don't expect nostalgia). In addition, I am a hard working videographer and photographer. Expect a few media links too.
What station is this? Does anyone know?
This blog was inspired by the "Kids ride free program". It also may is to be used as an active method to support the Dulles Rail and Purple Line projects. It also advocates, encourages, and actively uses the military timing system. Every 10 posts I do, if you don't want to read every line of every posts to understand what acronyms I'm using, I'll spit out a list.
THIS IS BUILD SEASON!
Well, lets get started. Today I left robotics with a friend (this will only be said once: Robotics is at Montgomery Blair High School) at around 1730. We ran across Colesville road and almost immediatly caught the #9 to Silver Spring (SS). There are about 8 or so buses that run along Colesville in that direction so they come about every 7 minutes or so and are not difficult to catch. Something to mention is that they tend to come in groups of three. My friend and I sought to catch the J4 bus to Bethesda (it's Limited Stop and one of the fastest routes in the system. It usually takes as little as 15 minutes.) Unfortunately though, we arrived at the station at 1750, about 3 minutes too late. My friend and I ran across the street to the Eastbound stop and planed to wait there a few minutes for the next J series bus (Silver Spring/College Park - East County Route). At around 1753 however, the #1 bus came (Silver Spring - Friendship Heights). I decided that it would be quicker to take that bus than to wait for a J. However, I had to leave my friend behind at the stop, hope he got home alright... Anyway though, after about 30 minutes for a 15 minute route (lots of local stops) I arrived at Friendship Heights. One of the best things about the #1 bus is that is usually arrives within 2 minutes of the #42 bus (Friendship Heights - Medical Center). I caught the #42 straight away and a few stops later, got off and walked home.

This bus comes every 20 minutes during rush hour and every 30 during non-rush. Noted is how it often matches with the #1 slightly after peak hours. It is noted for having the number of the meaning of life as its notifier. It's a shame they are planning to cut out the Southern half...
